When John started in voice overs, the routine was for the ad agency to either mail or drop the script off. Then the script would be recorded and reel to reel tape copies (dubs) would be made of the recording. These would be either delivered to or picked up by the ad agency for distribution.
The voice over industry, like most industries, has changed dramatically due to our global economy. Now, with the internet, every part of the scenario above is instantaneous. The script is emailed and the audio files are sent via email or ftp. The process is much more efficient now and location is no longer an issue.
